4. Khajuraho Monuments Group in Madhya Pradesh

Located in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho Monuments Group is a complex of Jain and Hindu temples. The monuments were built in the 9th century by the rulers of the Chandelas dynasty.

The place is famous for its Country architecture and erotic sculptures. In the 12th century, there were about 85 temples in the area, of which there are still 20. The group of temples respects Hindu and Jain traditions.

5. Gomateshwara Monolithic Sculpture of Shravana

Gomateshwara is a massive sculpture about 60 feet tall in Shravanabelagola, Karnataka. It was built in the West Ganga dynasty in 981 by the Minister of the West Ganga dynasty. The statue was erected when Buff Bali (Gomateshwara), grandson of the first Jain Tirthankara, stood and received salvation for a year.

The best time to visit this place is during the Maha-Masak-Abhishek event every 12-14 years. During the event, the sculpture will be washed with gallons of water, honey, milk, and various types of sandalwood paste.

6. Nalanda University, Bihar

Located 95 km from Patna, the capital of Bihar, Nalanda University was a world-renowned center of learning during Gupta rule and then controlled by Emperor Kannauj of Harsha Valdana.

Inspired by the highly organized Vedic teaching methods, many scholars from different regions such as China, South Korea, Central Asia, and Tibet participated. It was then destroyed by the Islamic army in the 12th century AD.

7. Sunarki Konark Temple in Orissa

The Konark Sun Temple, also known as the Black Pagoda, was built in 1255 AD on the banks of the Chandrabaga River by the ruler of the Eastern Ganga dynasty, Narasim Hadeva I.

The temple is dedicated to the sun god and is located in Konark, Orissa. Famous for its Karinga-style architecture, especially a Sun Chariot-style temple with 12 pairs of wheels, columns, and walls carved by seven horses.
